Robben Island Marine and Wildlife

The rich marine life in the immediate region of Robben Island provides an opportunity to see a wide spectrum of seabirds and marine mammals including Cape Fur seals, Southern Right whales and Dusky and Heaviside Dolphins. The seals are in their turn the staple food of the Great White Sharks that flourish in the cold Atlantic waters.

On Robben Island, you will be able to see some of the nearly 25 species of mammals, these include small herds of bontebok, springbok, steenbok, fallow deer and eland. A number of ostriches, lizards, geckos, snakes and three species of tortoise can also be found.
